Days of Remembrance and Celebrating Victory Day

May 8, 1945, marked the formal acceptance of Germany’s surrender, ending World War II and became the cause of celebration as Victory Day (V-E) in Europe.  My husband and I were in Caen, Normandy, at the WWII museum on the 8th. Being in such a historically significant location on that day and surrounded by those honoring their families’ sacrifices added a powerful, personal side to the commemoration. The warmth shared between us, as American visitors, and the descendants was heartfelt. To then hear that President Trump signed a Proclamation commemorating the 80th anniversary of Victory Day was a special day indeed. To read the proclamation declaration go to https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/05/vcitory-day-for-world-war-ii-2025/

Let us remember, act on or celebrate these June dates:

June 6 – D-Day (1944) The largest seaborne invasion in history, Operation Overlord began on the beaches of Normandy. It was a pivotal moment that led to the liberation of Western Europe.

June 14 – Flag Day Commemorates the adoption of the U.S. flag on June 14, 1777. June 14 – President

June 14 - President Trump’s Birthday – Celebrate all he has accomplished for America in these first 130 days of his presidency. His birthday coincidentally falls on Flag Day.

June 15 – Father’s Day (2025) A Day to honor fathers and paternal figures. (Note: Father’s Day is the third Sunday in June each year.)

June 19 – Juneteenth Commemorates the enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation in Texas on June 19, 1865. Now a federal holiday recognizing the end of slavery in the U.S.

God Bless America, God Bless #47 President Donald J. Trump, and prayers for God's guidance and blessings for our country's leaders who are fighting for the safety, security, and prosperity of our United States' citizens.

Sincerely,
Michele Zemcik, President
